The arrival of the latest iteration of the Ford F-150 had critics scoffing. "An aluminum-bodied pickup with primarily V6-driven power?" they said. "It will never catch on." Unfortunately, the naysayers were wrong. Not only does the F-150 boast class-leading towing figures, and an arsenal of class-exclusive features, a new V6 engine is arriving that will put it at the top of its class.

Drivers familiar with the F-150 lineup will surely know of the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6, and the impressive horsepower and torque it offers. For 2017, however, an all-new iteration of this engine will debut. Based on technology developed for the new Raptor, the power output climbs to 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, the latter being a best-in-class figure among all pickups, be they diesel or V8. Payload and towing numbers are yet to be released, but we expect more great things in that department.
